My favorite slide from the Katrina piece was how they connected raced/classed distinctions with who got left behind in the wake of the hurricane. It evoked images of horror and disgust with the "bodie-filled" freeways where the middle class and the poor were trying to get out. People who were wealthier got away. It was the argument labeled "Emergency". It utilized pathos as well as logos with the explanation of how wealth created scenes of destitution and awfulness. I really liked this project over the other one.

Blue Velvet Blog Post
The "Blue Velvet" project incorporates a "journey" type of presentation for it's information. It does not follow a traditional essay form, but it uses both literary and academic language to present information as well as establish pathos. We move through the history of ideas, politics, and socio-economic development all at the same time. It's multi-faceted approach to presenting a case for the racism inherent in the disaster following Katrina.

It is compelling to know how they handled Katrina. I can't help but think there could have been a better way to help people evacuate, instead of show racism towards blacks and lower classes. We get pulled in by the tragedy and I liked this project over the other one as well.
