The picture showed the forced silence which had
mentioned in Glenn’s Unspoken. This was about the trial of the Catholic priest
who had conducted propaganda against Communist party. He was involved in many
pro-democracy movements, which held him imprisoned for almost 15 years. During
the trial, a communist officer slapped their hands over the priest’s mouth to
stop him from shouting anti-communist slogans and loudly denouncing the
authorities of practicing "the law of the jungle”. The priest further was
wrestled out of the courtroom while the court was still going on without his
presence. The defendant had no lawyers present.
This was an open trial as an attempt to silence other
anti-communists. Also, it’s possible that their message was to tell everyone
that they hold the strong and confident power over everything. According to the
news, the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention asked for his release after
determining that he was being imprisoned without the cause and was not given a fair trial. Several members of the U.S. Congress also appealed by sending their signatures
and asking for the immediately release. However, his release date is still unknown.

This is a striking image, and it really hits you hard. I can't imagine living in a situation like this, where people are so stringently and physically silenced. This is really powerful, Thuy, thank you for sharing this.
